Personal Statement Help

A personal statement that reads like you, at your strongest.

Admissions committees read hundreds of personal statements, or statements of purpose, that all sound the same. I help you find the story only you can tell, and give you honest feedback on how you tell it, so your application stands out for the right reasons.

What's Included

Coaching and feedback, start to final draft.

This is a hands-on, one-to-one process. I coach the thinking behind your statement and give you detailed, line-by-line feedback on the writing, but every word you submit is your own.

Finding Your Angle

Before any writing starts, I work with you to identify the strongest, most specific story your background actually supports, instead of a generic "why I love this subject" opener.

Structure & Drafting

I use my 6-Pillar Methodology to structure your statement, then give you detailed, line-by-line feedback across as many drafts as it takes to get it right.

Course-Specific Positioning

I tell you exactly what your target course's admissions committee actually rewards, based on what's worked for past clients applying to that same programme.

Final Polish

A final round of detailed feedback on clarity, tone and length, so what you submit is the sharpest version of your own writing.

Personal Statement FAQ

A few common questions.

Will you write my personal statement for me?

No. I provide an entirely ethical service. Every word of your statement has to be your own. I'll help you find your strongest story and sharpen how you tell it, but I do not write, or arrange for anyone else to write, application content on a client's behalf. Please do not contact me if you're looking for anything unethical.

How many drafts does the process usually take?

It varies by applicant and course, but most clients go through several rounds of detailed feedback before we land on a final draft. I'd rather get it right than rush it.

Do you help with personal statements for non-native English speakers?

Yes, this is a regular part of my work. I focus on making sure your ideas and voice come through clearly, alongside the usual structure and language polish.

Can you help with application essays as well as the main personal statement?

Yes. Many applications include supplementary essays alongside the main statement, and I coach and edit those the same way.

Do you guarantee I'll get an offer?

No consultant can guarantee an offer, and I'd be wary of anyone who says otherwise. I can't make a guarantee on any individual course, but my success rates speak for themselves: a 98% first- or second-choice offer rate, eight years running.

How does pricing work?

Pricing isn't listed here because every engagement is different. Get in touch and I'll give you a clear picture of cost and scope in our first conversation. No pressure, no obligation.

Do you offer a personal statement editing service?

Not in the sense of rewriting text for you. I comment on and discuss individual sentences and paragraphs, telling you what's working, what isn't, and why, so you can revise it yourself. Think of it as detailed, line-by-line discussion rather than editing. The words stay yours throughout.

Do you help with UCAS personal statements for undergraduate applicants?

Yes. Most of my work is with postgraduate, MBA and PhD applicants, but I also support UCAS undergraduate applications, working as both statement coach and personal statement tutor for students going through the process for the first time.
